What is Truth in Data?
Since day one, Webbula has been committed to the highest possible standards when it comes to data security, safety, and responsibility. Our passion and mission has always been — and will remain — Truth in Data.
Our adherence to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is another opportunity for Webbula to demonstrate our commitment to protecting customer data security and privacy while empowering consent in how that data is collected, recorded, and used.
What is California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)?
Established in June 2018, the California Consumer Privacy Act created a comprehensive privacy regulation in the state of California. The law took effect on January 1, 2020.
- Understand who their personal data has been disclosed to.
- Learn what personal data a company has about them.
- Determine which third parties their personal data has been sold to.
- Access, opt-out, or request deletion of their personal data.
If a data provider does business in California, it must comply with all legal provisions of the CCPA. Failure to align business practices with the legal framework may result in significant financial penalties.
Who does the CCPA Law Apply To?
The CCPA applies to organizations that collect data on California residents and meet one of the following:
- Annual revenue exceeds $25 million
- Handles data from more than 50,000 consumers, households, or devices annually
- At least 50% of annual revenue comes from selling personal information
Is there a CCPA Certification?
There is currently no recognized CCPA certification scheme. Webbula is taking the necessary steps to ensure full compliance with the CCPA. Webbula offers customers and partners a CCPA Data Processing Addendum (DPA), which updates our Terms of Service and Master Services Agreement (MSA) to reflect CCPA requirements.
What is Webbula doing to ensure CCPA compliance?
Our commitment to Truth in Data remains as strong as ever. We are compliant with CCPA, just as we are with GDPR.
Webbula has updated vendor contracts and continues to review our security measures to stay aligned with evolving industry standards and best practices.
CCPA addresses the lack of a comprehensive privacy regulation in the United States. While other state laws exist, they tend to be sector-specific and rarely address broader commercial data usage.
How can Webbula guarantee continued service after the CCPA comes into effect?
Webbula provides a CCPA Data Processing Addendum that supplements existing Master Service Agreements when required.
